Our Methodology

How We Approach Every Project

Interior design at Terne Lab is not a linear handoff — it is a conversation that grows in depth over time. We start by understanding how you use space, what bothers you about your current environment, and what you aspire to. From there, we build a design response that is grounded in your specific situation, not borrowed from a portfolio.

Our process is iterative and transparent. Every decision is shared with you before it is finalised, and every change of scope is agreed upon in writing. We believe this makes for better design — and far fewer disagreements during the renovation phase.

We are selective about the number of projects we take on at any one time. This is deliberate: it means each project receives the attention it deserves.

Listen & Observe

We visit the space and talk through how you live in it. We take notes, ask questions, and resist jumping to solutions too soon.

Design & Visualise

We develop layouts, material palettes, and 3D renders — then present these in a working document that can be adjusted through review rounds.

Tend & Complete

We remain present during the renovation, coordinating with contractors and ensuring the design is executed as intended — finishing with a final styling session.

An initial session exploring how your space can evolve to better support your daily life. Suitable for any residential property or small workspace, regardless of whether renovation is on the horizon. Many clients find it valuable simply for the clarity it brings.

Attentive care during the renovation phase — for clients who want consistent, caring oversight from start to finish. We source materials, coordinate trades, monitor site progress, resolve issues, and conclude with a final session to arrange and style the completed space.
